The workshop "Beyond compulsory education - cross-national indicators for monitoring and benchmarking national education systems", which was held in Moscow on October 15-17 2007, was organized by the Federal Institute of Education Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation (FIED), the UNESCO Institute for Statistics and the UNESCO Moscow Office.

CHECHEN CHILDREN REPOSE IN LOCATED NEAR MOSCOW CHILDREN CAMP

In July 2007 a psycho-social rehabilitation programme was organized in located near Moscow children camp "Moskovia" for 23 school children from the Chechen Republic. Besides rehabilitation led by psychologists, Chechen children participated in International School of Russian Language, visited Moscow sites, and took part in sport and amateur camp activities.

Socialization of nomadic children

7-16 years old pupils from nomadic schools of the North of Yakutia have visited this summer the summer camp "Usad'ba Buluus". This visit has been organized in the framework of the joint project of UNESCO and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) "Promoting Literacy of Indigenous Pupils through Capacity Building for the System of Community Education of Nomadic Peoples of the North of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)"

OPEN COURSE WARE MIRROR SITE LAUNCHED AT MESI

On the 14th of June 2007, during the session of the International Conference "E-learning and National Educational Reforms: Worldwide Experience and Russian Practice," the Rector of the Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics (MESI) Professor V.Tikhomirov has launched a Russian portal, developed at MESI, which provides access to the richest collection of course ware of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
